The Fusion Reactor is a powerful and rare item that can be dropped by enemies during your run. When you obtain one, it provides you with multiple strategic options to significantly boost your power level and enhance your chances of survival. This versatile tool offers different upgrade paths depending on your current setup, allowing you to tailor your improvements based on what you need most in that moment. Some of the Fusion Reactor's capabilities are always available to use, while others unlock only when specific conditions and requirements are met by the player at the time of pickup.
Fission
The Fission option is the most straightforward and universally accessible choice, always available whenever you pick up a Fusion Reactor. When selected, Fission will immediately grant you a random number of upgrade levels distributed across your existing balls and passive items. This provides an instant power boost by strengthening your current arsenal without changing its composition.
However, if you've already maximized all of your balls and passives to level 3, making further upgrades impossible, Fission adapts to your situation. Instead of providing unusable upgrade levels, it will reward you with a random amount of Gold, which you can then spend on purchasing new items or rerolling your shop options to find better opportunities for growth.

The Fusion option represents a more advanced and strategic choice that becomes available only when you have accumulated at least two unfused level 3 balls in your inventory. This powerful feature allows you to permanently combine two of your maxed-out balls into a single, more potent hybrid ball that inherits and merges the abilities of both parent balls.
When you activate Fusion, you'll be presented with an interactive menu showing all your eligible level 3 balls. You can then carefully select any two balls to fuse together, creating a unique combination that maintains the strengths of both while freeing up a ball slot in your limited inventory. This is particularly valuable when you're running out of space but don't want to sacrifice the power of your existing balls.
REMEMBER: You can fuse evolved balls as well, allowing for even more complex and powerful combinations.

Evolution
Evolution is the most specialized and powerful option offered by the Fusion Reactor, but it also has the strictest requirements. This option only becomes available when you possess all the necessary ingredient balls at level 3 that are required to create a specific Evolution Ball according to predefined recipes. Evolution Balls are premium, enhanced versions of combined balls with significantly more powerful effects than regular fused balls.
When the Evolution option unlocks, you'll be able to view which Evolution Balls you're eligible to create based on your current level 3 ball collection. Each Evolution Ball has its own unique recipe that requires specific combinations of base balls, and collecting the right ingredients becomes a strategic goal throughout your run. Successfully creating an Evolution Ball can dramatically shift the balance of power in your favor, making this the most rewarding but challenging way to use the Fusion Reactor.
